Inspiration Unlimited –A Case Study
Bhagawanth Rao, 14, whose parents Soyam Lachu and Lachu Bai cultivate about 20 acres of dry land in Adilabad District, is the star of this story. Son of an illiterate mother and little-schooled father, Bhagawanth Rao had studied up to Grade VIII and then become a school dropout. His previous school was a Residential school 20 kms from his village, and he had complained about being fed up with the unhygienic conditions in this residential school, had developed fever, and discontinued, sometimes helping his parents and sometimes just roaming around the village. One year back Prakruthi started an education project for the children of organic cotton growing farmers who were either school dropouts or children who never attended school in this region. Bhagawanth was motivated to join the centre, and after 9 months of education in the learning centre, Prakruthi staff got him admitted to VIII std.at Government Residential School at Bambara village, which is around 20 kms from kapri village. He is a happy boy now, is attending classes regularly, and is showing much interest in his studies. His mother is very happy that his son is going to school regularly and also amazed to see her son leaving the village as soon as vacations are over to join school without wasting a single day in the village unnecessarily. She says that her son has trimmed and groomed his hair cleanly and developed several hygienic habits. His interest in education is also showing remarkable progress.
